Zelenskyy: Russia is not preparing to stop war and plans major spending on drones

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said Russia has no intention of ending its war against Ukraine and plans to spend US$12 billion next year on producing jet-powered drones and loitering munitions alone.

Quote: "It is obvious that the Russians are not preparing to stop the war – at least not at the moment. Putin always has some excuse not to meet, not to establish a trilateral format, not to talk, not to stop the killing. He's been doing the same thing for years, and all our partners can see it. He is looking for excuses to continue the war. It all sounds the same, and our recent meeting with the president of the United States demonstrates this."

Details: Zelenskyy said the US "shares this assessment, and Russia needs to develop a desire to spend money on something other than death, so that they develop a desire to end this war".

The president announced that there will be a great deal of diplomatic activity in the coming days and in October in an effort to change the situation.

"But in addition to this, the Lindsey Graham Act and other pressure mechanisms all need to be brought into greater effect," he stressed.

"Next year Russia plans to spend US$12 billion just on producing jet-powered drones and loitering munitions. And that's only one category of weapons. Of course, this doesn't only relate to Ukraine," Zelenskyy noted.
