Zelenskyy meets Macron in New York: they discuss halting strikes on energy infrastructure

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has met French President Emmanuel Macron in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

Details: The meeting between the two leaders took place at the residence of the permanent representative of France to the United Nations.

Before meeting his Ukrainian counterpart, Macron held talks with US President Donald Trump. Following these talks, he said he had raised the need to urgently provide Kyiv with interceptor missiles for air defence systems and discussed the idea of a moratorium between Ukraine and Russia on strikes against energy facilities.

"We will join forces to secure a moratorium on strikes against energy and civilian infrastructure facilities in Ukraine. Civilians must be protected, and we must begin serious negotiations on the terms of peace between Russia and Ukraine as soon as possible," Macron wrote on X (Twitter).

The French leader added that he planned to raise the issue during his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Before talks with the French leader, Zelenskyy met with US congressmen, whom he thanked for passing a bill on sanctions against Russia.
