Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces strike 300 Russian shadow fleet vessels in two months

Since July 2026, Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces (USF) have disabled 300 vessels belonging to Russia's so-called shadow fleet.

Details: The drone operation targeting the shadow fleet has been under way for 11 weeks, since 6 July 2026. Of the 300 vessels rendered unable to operate under their own power, 134 were in the Sea of Azov and 166 in the Black Sea.

"The Sea of Azov is at a standstill and will remain so, along with the Kerch Strait. In the northern and north-eastern parts of the Black Sea, it's a case of 'maybe we'll get through'," Madyar wrote.

Background: In late August, MSC Mediterranean Shipping Co., the world's largest container shipping company, suspended new bookings for shipments through the Russian port of Novorossiysk.
