Scheduled power outages of up to one group will have to be introduced in some regions of Ukraine from 15:00 until the end of the day due to Russian attacks.
Source: Ukrenergo, Ukraine's state-owned electricity transmission operator
Details: Power cuts have been reported in Cherkasy Oblast in particular.
The situation in the power system may change, meaning the extent of the power cuts could be increased, reduced or cancelled altogether.
In addition, Russian strikes on energy infrastructure have caused new power outages in Kharkiv, Sumy, Zaporizhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts as of this morning.
Ukrenergo is asking consumers to limit their electricity use while power restrictions are in effect and to avoid switching on several high-powered appliances at the same time when electricity is restored under the schedule so as to prevent the power system from becoming overloaded.
Background: On the night of 5-6 October, Russia attacked Ukraine with 137 strike UAVs, of which air defence forces downed 114.
