Russia has begun massive attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure ahead of freezing weather, says PM

Russia launched large-scale strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure on the night of 29-30 September.

Quote: "Since summer, there's barely been a day without an attack on our energy infrastructure. But a combined strike of this scale hasn't happened since the end of last heating season."

Details: A total of 11 regions across Ukraine have come under attack since the evening of Tuesday. Emergency repair work and efforts to deal with the aftermath of the attack are ongoing.

Koretskyi added that local authorities must ensure backup power systems at critical facilities in their communities are ready for use and that all installation and connection work is completed as soon as possible.

Background: As of the morning of Wednesday 30 September, some consumers in the city of Kyiv and Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Sumy and Kharkiv oblasts were without power as a result of hostilities and Russian attacks.
