Russia attacks Ukraine with missiles and 212 drones: hits recorded at 22 locations

Russian forces attacked Ukraine with missiles of various types and 212 drones on the night of 21-22 September, while air defence forces downed 186 aerial assets.

Details: The Russians launched Oniks anti-ship missiles from Rostov Oblast, while Iskander-M/S-400/KN-23 ballistic missiles were fired from Kursk, Rostov and Voronezh oblasts.

Four Kalibr cruise missiles were launched from the waters of the Caspian Sea and eight Banderol/Dan-T drone missiles from the airspace over Belgorod Oblast.

The Russians also attacked with 212 Shahed drones (some jet-powered) and Parody decoy UAVs. They were launched from the Russian cities of Oryol, Millerovo, Shatalovo, Kursk and Primorsko-Akhtarsk as well as from the occupied cities of Donetsk and Hvardiiske and Chauda in Crimea.

Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovohrad and Poltava oblasts have been the main targets of the attack.

Aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare assets, unmanned systems units and mobile fire groups from Ukraine's defence forces have been involved in repelling the attack.

Background:

• Two people were killed and six injured in a Russian ballistic missile attack on the city of Dnipro on the night of 21-22 September.
• The Russians launched a large-scale attack on Poltava Oblast, hitting an industrial facility and a critical infrastructure site in the Kremenchuk district.
