Lukashenko says Belarus has no potash fertilisers for US despite deal announced by Trump

Belarusian self-proclaimed President Alexander Lukashenko has said that the country has no spare volumes of potash fertilisers that could be supplied to the United States.

Details: The comment came after US President Donald Trump announced that he was working on a "major deal" to purchase potash fertilisers from Belarus at a significant discount amid a trade war with Canada.

Lukashenko had previously spoken about supplying Belarusian potash fertilisers to the US. However, he said Belarus could not supply large volumes to the US because this year's fertiliser production had already been allocated under existing contracts.

"Even if we wanted to supply [potash fertilisers] to other, Western markets, we simply don't have those volumes – everything has already been allocated under contracts," the Belarusian ruler stressed.
